King County’s Facilities Management Division (FMD) is searching for a leader to serve as Real Estate Services Manager. King County is one of America's fastest-growing regions and Executive Dow Constantine is building partnerships and working with employees to meet the key challenges facing the Pacific Northwest in the 21st Century -- regional mobility, equity and social justice, and climate change.

This role focuses on the daily operations of the division and is the lead in designing and implementing strategies and projects that maintain present and future Real Estate services necessary to meet our customer’s needs. We are looking for a seasoned, operational leader who is an exceptional strategic thinker and who can think outside the box, center equity and social justice, break down barriers, and empower staff to continuously improve.

This position serves as a member of the division senior leadership team. This role involves daily interaction with staff from all levels the organization including elected officials, agency stakeholders, and separate branches of government. This role requires that the incumbent have exceptional strategic leadership and project management skills, a commitment to building and maintaining a diverse workforce, a driver of efficiency and innovation, and a desire to push self and others for successful results.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE IS A GREAT PEOPLE LEADER WHO WILL:

• Have strong experience and background with providing strategic leadership and management of Real Estate Services to a large organization; OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the scope of job duties.
• Demonstrate a high level of self-awareness and is comfortable with their own strengths and weaknesses.
• Be culturally aware and comfortable having complex and challenging discussions about race and diversity in the workplace. Be sensitive to managing differences and building bridges
• Be able to lead a changing culture within an emerging organization focused on continuous improvement. 
• Have a track record of conceptualizing, developing and implementing strategies, systems, standards and plans for a wide variety of functions.
• Develop metrics and use innovative visual tools to display division priorities and strategic initiatives in a clear and impactful manner for use in policy decisions.
• Create initiatives to develop, coach and mentor a culturally and generationally diverse staff in a collaborative manner that focuses on employee engagement, good communication, and team building. Experience working in an organized labor environment is a plus.
• Be able to persevere and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
